eLegit come to play on our quest to assist the tech community curb theft and other social vices. Over time, the loss of technology products has become a common occurrence such that by mere walking down the market square, your mobile device could be snatched either silently or even at gunpoint. The ability of the thief to wipe/format such device and sell it to another user is a strong force that encourages the continuous practice. Often, only the rich could afford a tracking services from the security agencies.
At eLegit, we felt the common people, who falls among the average income earners are being cheated, as they most times could not afford the stress and cost of tracking their lost products and are being forced to forget about if since they have no other choice. They will then start a new savings program, in order to gather some cash and purchase another device.
Likewise, these set of people could not afford to purchase new devices at times and end up buying the so called "fairly used" items which sometimes might be stolen items. In a situation where the owner of the device is rich, and has ordered a tracking service, the buyer ends up in another trouble in a situation where they could not trace back where they bought the device.
eLegit intends to assist the community of mobile phone and computer user as well as other products as such that has unique identification/serial numbers/IDs. The average person gets to stay away from trouble as much as possible and the rich could actually use their money for something else. We believe that the thieves will also be curbed in that there would no longer be a market place for stolen items.
eLegit maintains a database of lost items "the blacklist". Also, eLegit users would form a community of moralists who would verify the status of a product before buying. eLegit provides a verification/lookup tool to achieve this. We also believe a time would come, when a lost item is found maybe by a passer by, the owner could be notified provided they have blacklisted their product, and make arrangements on how to retrieve their product.
